Publix Bakery, an old-school, family-owned chain of convenience stores, will open its first location in Mariposas new neighborhood, a former shopping center and park.
The restaurant will serve its first three items in the new MaripoS bakery theme, which will include salads, sandwiches and desserts.
Publiss will offer a full menu of traditional American favorites, including salads, buns, cheeses and wraps.
The chain is owned by the same family that operates the Mariponas Pillsbury Co. and has been a popular destination in the Marlboro area since it opened in 1876.
Publix said it will offer an array of American classics, including soups, salads, salads with roasted tomatoes and a variety of pastries.
The chain is opening a new location in a new neighborhood.
The family owned company was started in 1946 by John P. Barret, the first African American to become a partner in the company.
The MaripoS bakery will open at 545 South Avenue, which is near the intersection of West and Marlborough avenues, just north of the Interstate 10 exit.
The location will be open until 6 p.m. on Friday.
