NEW YORK — Bennisons Bakery, an upscale bakery that opened in New Jersey’s Upper Township earlier this year, is set to open its first U.S. location on Sept. 17 in New Brunswick.
The bakery, which opened its first store in New Rochelle, N.J., in 2011, is now expanding its business, with plans to open a new bakery in Manhattan in 2018.
Benny Tisch, the head baker at Bennisons, said the store is going to be a hub for all the bakery’s products.
“I think the world of New Brunswick, and I know our family will be excited to have the opportunity to expand our presence in the city,” Tisch said.
New Brunswick’s Bennisons Bakerie was founded in 2002 and is known for its signature bakery items, including the Smitten Kitchen, the Fresh Bakery and the Smokies.
Since its opening, the bakery has grown from just a couple of dozen employees to about 80.
Tisch said Bennisons plans to serve the new location with more than 150 different products, ranging from pastries to baked goods to ice cream and even coffee.
He said the bakery plans to be open seven days a week and will have its own delivery service, so customers can pick up their orders right away.
